Re: 2008/2009 - MVP's

I am just provoking discussion here and don't really think it should be ditched. I just want managers to think about it more and look deeper than just the goalscorers.

It takes a team to get a striker into a goalscoring position!

We had one game where our lad who got it scored the winning goal and played very well, but also got booked for swearing rather loudly across the pitch at me. And that got him a fine and the MVP! Go figure?

Ian, I don't think teams give it purely based on the goalscorer. Dave Peregrine was our top scorer this season and he only got 1 MVP all season (I'm sure that has nothing to do with his general behaviour letting him down emoticon ).

That's an easy one to explain though. For every game where Dave scores a goal he will miss about 6 other chances during which the volume and explicit content of his self-chastisement will increase exponentially. emoticon

I feel I have to defend my overly sensitive striker here. Oh stuff it, the Germans gave up trying to justify Hitler's behaviour years ago. emoticon

Quite difficult to know how to respond when your Gaffer decides to compare you to Hitler. Stunned. Will do my level best not to score as many next season, I promise emoticon .

Dave, I believe your position is about as intenable as a House Of Commons Speaker...you have my number!

You're right JP, but if I can just manage 20 goals, I'll have succeeded emoticon.

What are the chances of you scoring less than you did last season (incidentally, JP may need the help of a quantum physicist to answer this one). emoticon
