Gardening!

In preparation for impending fatherhood, I have spent the Bank Holiday weekend doing traditional 'Dad' things. Like building a patio in our garden. This involved shifting over 2.5 tonnes of sand. Ouch.

Anyway, I have about 200kg of sand left over and can't find the receipt, so I was wondering if anyone else was planning any gardening/building works in the near future? If so, you can have it. If you don't have a car I'll drop it off to you. Also have a couple of bags of Mastercrete (basically cement). Wouldn't mind a couple of quid for those, but if money's an issue happy to give them away as well.

Slightly random thread I know, but may end up having to throw stuff away to save space if no-one wants it and would rather give it to someone else to use.

By the way, If anyone has a wife nagging them for a patio, think long and hard before you agree to build one. I said I would at Christmas assuming she'd forget. Mistake. Its an absolute back-breaker.

Re: Gardening!

Don't need any of that I'm afraid Davo, but I also spent yesterday clearing up our absolute mess of a garden. Had to get reinforcements in. Managed to take 11 bin bags full of crap (mainly brambles) down to the tip, and still have 6 more bin bags plus a pile that hasn't been put into bin bags yet (must be at least 2-3 bags worth) left in our garden. I have a sore hamstring this morning, plus a few scratches.

Dave, I'll take it if you come over to my garden and "deck-over" my pond for me. I think its the least you could do for me allowing you to be part of a championship winning side. emoticon

Re: Gardening!

Dave, we've recently extended our patio at our new place as they only gave us a small one. I say 'we' but mainly Manda's Dad! I helped him with the digging and removing of turf but unfortunately I was away on Saturday when he lay the slabs! Damn! I did go and collect them with him and man are they heavy and the edges are really sharp!

Don't know what happened to the rain and thunder that was supposed to hamper our efforts, barely a drop fell while I was there.

What are you feeding Rihanna Nath? And, more importantly, is it really right just to pile her crap outside? There are envronmental health implications!

I got the idea from an episode of the Simpsons. We just let her run free in the garden and let nature take its course.....

Whilst on the topic of the Simpsons, just thought I'd share a quote I liked from an episode last night, when Homer gets kidnapped in Brazil, and his kidnappers phone his family to ask for $50000 to secure his release.

Kidnapper: If your family want to see you alive again, they will have to pay.
Homer: I wouldn't get your hopes up. They've been seeing me alive for free for a long time.

Superb episode that one, love the bit when Bart and Homer have to wear thongs on the beach and Homer has to keep putting new pairs on as they disappear up his crack.
