Chillicothe Ohio's Social Society
It's pretty sad about this event. Everyone spent A LOT of money to enter this competition. The cost to make five gallons of chili, the decorations at the booths, and everything else associated. I wasn't an entry, but I did participate.
A little recognition would have been nice for all who participated. We had to call the Gazette ourselves to try and get something in there about the outcome of this event. They told us that the ladies from the Social Society were suppose to get them all the info from the event and pictures. A month later after hounding the Gazette to cover the outcome of this event, they put a small article in the briefs section of the paper. Could it have been too much to submit something to the paper congratulating the winners and thanking everyone for all their efforts and support? Well wait.... I know the answer to that - YES IT WOULD !
This was a fund-raising event for "Rock For Tots", and I imagine the Social Society will be the ones recognized for raising money to help out. To hell with the people that got the money for you. How easy is it to put your name on a check? Fairly simple. How easy is it to recognize people that helped you get the monies???? Maybe the ladies of the Social Society aren't so social after all.

FYI...the information was sent to the Gazette the Monday following the event. It was not until yesterday, that we were contacted and informed that they did not receive the results. Never once, prior to yesterday were we contacted by the Gazette, there was no hounding us to get the information.
Thank you for your concern and involvement. I believe that you were the on the team of the overall winner and we hope that you are willing to participate again as a defending champ, despite the delay in recognition.
Please know that hundreds of local childern as well as the ladies of the CSS thank you and your team as well as all participants for their efforts.

Maybe the person that said they had contacted the Gazette misimformed you. Every Monday we have contacted the Gazette for an update. They heard nothing. They finally had to contact you, not vice-versa.

The winners of Chili-Fest 2007 have been announced:
The 2007 Grand Champion was Lil'l Ray's Vodoo Chili and other winners included: General Public: River's Edge Chili, Business: Wendy's; Political Candidate: Etling for City Council; Non-profit/civic group: The Elks; Firefighters/Law Enforcement: Lil'l Ray's Vodoo Chili; and the People's Choice went to Gerber Insurance.
Thats it. We would like to know how well the event did. How much money was raised to help the children. Maybe that would encourage others to donate or hold fundraisers for wonderful causes like "Rock For Tots".
I thank you for taking the time to reply. My previous emails received nothing. No, I was not on the team of winners (Would have been really cool- but no). However, they are friends of mine. Maybe they will defend their title next year. I however don't feel the need to be "social". I attend the Rock for Tots every year and they will directly benefit from my donation.
Funny how you dodged the Health Inspector though. You would tell everyone, "THE HEALTH INSPECTOR'S GONE!!!! Don't worry about it". The hairnets are just for show, you can take them off now. ????? Was that now an issue? That could have been the title of the entire event. "THE HEALTH INSPECTOR IS GONE".

AFTER THAT, The Gazette deleted my post...Oh well. It is not that big of an issue, but it is discouraging.
