Many thanks to Masta! D/l the texture pak and sky paks from here and drop them in ur baseq2 directory:

New Textures for DM1-8

It's a great thing that Squirrel uses many of the original textures and doesn't create fancy new ones ... cause I think he'll like seeing this:


Notice the details with the rivets! This really looks like a warehouse.

in DM6, note the detailed tiles on the floor... and the "rocky" look of the wall surrounding the lava by the RL cave:

I am already useing the rivets -n- a new pak
i made,
The floor -n- DM6 looks wild,
Gonna add that & the sky tex,
Like the 2 old Guinness Birds say

i'm not able to make them work. i extracted the files to the texture folder in baseq2, tourney, and weapons folders and that did't work, so i extracting the pak file in baseq2 and that didnt work either. Am i misunderstanding something?

I haven't tried them yet, but you may need to run nocheat! to use them. They look awesome. Have you tried renaming it to an unused pak number between 3 and 9?

It requires NoCheat v2.4b. The .pak just contains textures in a .jpg format, so theoretically you can make any texture you want, heh.

That's what appears to have been done though, some of these textures are just horrible. emoticon

I'm going through the texture project at blur to see if there are more artistic textures more true to the original art of the game. I've found a handful already that fit the mood better, but it's no easy project.

EDIT:

I've just been informed that the pak i found isn't quite the same one. The sky texture is right, but the main pak isn't. I'm going to check it out when I get home. They seem similar though.

Gator just place them in your Baseq2 folder
along with the other paks,
like pak0,pak1,pak2..
U can re-name them up to pak9.

i got the sky to work, but not the rest of it i think. or maybe it isnt so noticeable, not sure. i'm so blind, they all look blended and fuzzy to me anyways. emoticon

maybe i need to rename the pak file right. so for crosshair, the highest number is the chosen one, is that the same for texture paks? it can figure out where each is supposed to go and just chooses the highest number? make sense what im dribbling?

Yeah just re-number it,
Make it a number u-r not useing,
Just not higher then "9"
So if u have "0" "1" "2" "3" make it pak4...
And oh yeah u-will notice the diff,
Its quite different,
Rivets galore & alot of flooring texture.
