Re: weeeee! loonix!!
ok, i've messed with it off and on for a while now... installed and uninstalled a bunch of stuff. it's a remarkably stable and friendly distro.
next project is to install suse on a spare hdd and see how that compares, then maybe install whichever i like better on my old laptop. the poor old gateway is really dogging on XPsp2 with it's 256MB ram and all the years of crud i've let build up on it. i figure as long as i'm giving it a reformat, i might as well (virtually) load up an OS that isn't as huge a security risk. the stupid symantec anti-internet software that's constantly running/scanning in the bg kills me. sometimes it takes over 6min to get all the way booted into windows. =\
any opinions on suse are welcome. i've never seen it before, but i got the cd's from a friend. i'm thinking it'll be more than i need, as i'm not into hardcore networking or development.

Re: weeeee! loonix!!
I've tried SuSe, and I thought it was pretty nice. It was very easy to get up and running, and I found the UI to be attractive and easy to use. With an MP3 patch, it will play music just fine.
