Ping, Tracert
The cable company is sending over a "Supervisor" next week as I finally called them to complain not only about sh-tty packet loss, web pages that don't load, but also not so great cable TV picture quality.
Anyway, I forgot how to use the PING and TRACERT tools in DOS to show packet loss... I recall it'd show "request timed out" at certain times.
I did this a while ago and took screenshots... it was pretty helpful to show it to them and now I forgot

start/run/cmd
cd c:\
tracert www.google.com
it will then ping every hop between you and google
