Vid Cards for the Holidays

So has the tide turned back over to Radeon???

Anyway, what's the choice of Vid Card for holiday wish lists? I figure it's prolly best to divide up categories:

EDITED TO: AGP Cards (NOT PCI)
$150:
$200:
$300:

PCI-E Cards
$150:
$200:
$300:

Whatever do you mean by PCI cards? Like soundcards maybe?

As for the graphic's side, I wouldn't buy anything less than a 7600GT from nVidia, and nothing less than an X1900 from ATI. nVidia's new 8800 series kicks everything else to the curb, including your checking account.

If you're thinking about it right now, I would buy a 7900GT or X1900XTX.

I'm staying with Video Cards only... I meant PCI cause some of us still have "PCI only" bus for a video card option and that world is shrinking.

I have never considered myself a "serious" gamer... so I wonder if an improvement going from say, 60 fps to 100 fps in CSS is gonna make me that much better.... it may just make me think I even worse... an increase in fps and I still die a lot emoticon

Actually I the AGP apperature (spelling may be off) with the 9800 Pro ATI. I have had both ATI and Nvidia Cards. Will stick with the ATI. No vid card changes scheduled 2007. Unless a super primo game comes out. My computer will work on FEAR am just waiting for the price to come down. Ohhhh, am still loving Halo.

The new games have been very playable on my 9800PRO 128, same as hammer. Maybe some other gadgets should replace vid cards on da holiday wish list emoticon

yeah, I was gonna say. You can't get a good PCI graphics card because of bus limitations. Foo, I have an aftermarket cooler for the 9800pro if you want it. It's really quiet and pretty easy to install and has sat in my closet for months. If you want it shoot me an email.

You know after the cpu upgrade I hadn't thought about the pc lately. Been back into radio control mode and got a monster truck to keep me busy after work.
I might get a matching 7600 gt so the 1 I have doesn't feel lonely...lol. Might change my mind if a kick ass game comes along. Till then I'm happy with the current config.
