COD Help
Ok, here is a strange one. I received call of duty and installed the program. Everything went fine, played the intro film and moved on to the main menu. The main menu screen looks fine except there is no wording. I can move the mouse over the area where it is suppose to be and hear it click but I can not see a thing. I have figured out which is the exit and can get out of the program, but that is it. I can set nothing up so it is unplayable. I downloaded the patch, which took 3.5 hours, and it still does not work. I checked the Activision web site and they just recommended updating my video card driver. Well have done that and still nothing. Any ideas from you coomputer wiz's out there.

Dunno Hammer. The original COD is not a new game so it should run ok. I mentioned this in the COD thread to Gator. Maybe he knows glitches of the game.
One other thing u may want to try, is to lend it to a local friend/co-worker... see if they can load it on their PC. If they can, at least you know it's not a bad copy of the game and a conflict with your PC and/or O/S settings, vid card.

Despite the problems with COD, I did receive fear today. I am taking Foo's advice and installing COD on another computer. I let the sellers know and they offered to send another copy, we will see what develops. Oh. Fear looks great have only installed and proceeded a little, wish me luck as I am going in full tilt. I will send up flares if there is a problem. Call mom and let her know I am occupied for one month.

Hey Hammer..
I have cable and play a few online games..q2-css. But single player got me hooked years ago.. Never played cod but went thru cod2 twice.. great game.
Just finished q4.. Not a bad game for a run and gunner.. 
I'm about 2 hrs into fear... Unlike q4 this one has more to think about than just run and gun.. 
I'll try and stay ahead of ya and clear the path...

Bummer to hear about you having issues with cod. It is the first time i have heard of it not working correctly. i'd suggest it is a video issue of some sort. If you were able to get to console (tilde, just like q2) perhaps it will tell you what the issue is. The ideas given are all good ones.
i wish i had an answer for ya, but i dont. :/
Do tell what you find out in time.

Problem solved, I followed Foo's advice and put the game on another computer. It had the exact same problem. I contacted the seller and he is sending another disc.
Lurch, I know Fear is awesome. At times I get chills as I hate that chick from the Ring she scared the crap out of me. I am sure you will stay ahead of me as I am moving slow ever since I got hit in the face in the beginning. Do you remember that?

Yea that chick from the ring jumps out and scares the heck out of ya at times..
So far thats all she's done. But i bet she gets more involved as the game goes on.
I've been hit in the face a few times..  But your prob talking about the guy your looking for. He knocks ya out early and gives ya info that in my opinion makes me think were looking for our dad..
Not sure yet but it seems that way to me..
Kinda like a star wars movie.."luke I am your father"
been a few days since I played. gonna jump in now for awhile..
