Set Ups

Where the hell do i start?!?

The key to this game is having a set-up you can drive. And consistency is going to pay larger dividends then a one lap all time best lap-time. You need to finish to win.

To simplify things, your goal is this:
1. Minimum Drag for Maximum Speed
    a. more grille tape, less spoiler, more tire inflation

2. Maximize Grip
    a. this is a balancing act
    b. softer springs give more grip
    c. lower tire pressures give more grip
    d. camber affects grip and tire wear
    e. lower track bar gives more grip

3. Make the car consistently driveable while being fast
    a. a forgiving chassis set up. More swaybar tends to calm the car at the expense of grip. Shocks calm the car, try some more rebound dampening if it is "unloading" off of corners, or more compression dampening if it is settling too hard on braking/entry.
    b. Track bar is the fastest adjustment to rear grip, springs on the front.

4. Make the car balanced enough to last the entire fuel load before destroying tires, overheating.
    a. Excess camber will make a tire run too hot.
    b. Too low air pressure will make tires wear too quickly
    c. Too much grille tape will make it run too hot jeopardizing the motor.

Re: Set Ups

Also i have found on many occations that the "fast" setup selection in the top right corner pull down menu of the garage window will give you a very good starting base.
I usally select "qualify" for Qualifying and "fast" for everything else.

Wished it had more options in it.
NASCAR 2002 had Qualify, Novice, Medium, and Fast setups for each track.
