Re: RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

I would be very surprised if anything beats her in the ring....as for her calves selling, I think they will do well but not top the sale. I could be wrong but I expect Ariel and a few others to sell higher than Roses Talent and Dundee. You will get an idea of what will happen at the SOS a week earlier at the Lesperron Sale.

RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

She got a good trip back from Madison and she is in top condition right now going to the the Royal.

As far as the Sale of Stars , I am king of agree with Rusendale that her progeniture will sale well for sure but this year top seller is wide open , so many good lots...

I agree too. I could be wrong, but the top seller is usually more of an index cow as opposed to a show cow isn't it?

Re: RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

Not necessarily, last year it was index, but in second was a daughter of Lautamie, who is an index & show cow.
In 2005 Fronten topped the sale (Sept. x Frantisco), and I think another daughter of Frantisco topped it in 2006.

Pretty sure Fronten sold in the Sale of Stars, because rumour was Quality wasn't planning to let all of her go, but Morsan didn't stop biddig (she transferred on Nov. 9, 2005).

Show-wise, does anybody think that there is anything out there that can give Rose a run for her money?

RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

I spoke with Pierre Boulet yesterday and he told me that we saw only half of Rose at WDE , she is in top form and should be better than at Madison. It will take a really good one to beat her or a bad day for Rose.

RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

Does anyone know if there is a Web site that has streaming video of the Royal? The only site that I was able to find was Holstein Journal. It's not live, but it looks like they will update the results quickly. Or are there other sites out there?

Re: RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

The Holstein Journal lists the placings as soon as each class finishes. Except for video, it's about as good as it gets.

RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

Thank you for the info! I guess I'm spoiled after being able to see Expo and NAILE shows on the Web.

Are there any cow talkers at the show? How does Rose look?

Re: RAWF/Sale of stars 2008

Is the economy in the crapper starting to hurt cattle prices? Those prices seem reasonable compared to some of the other sales this year.

If LRG's figures are correct the average is up from $25,667 last year to $27,500 this ... hardly evidence of the credit crunch affecting the elite cattle trade. True some of the top prices are more realistic than some seen earlier in the year, but this is not really evidence of a major problem is it?
