have our first 2 heifers on the ground - one is red and white but will probably turn black.Big strong wide powerful calves with plenty of attitude. The older of the 2 is handy with her feet if upset or startled but the younger can headbutt you bottom first out of the pen if her milk isnt delivered fast enuf.
Im looking forward to more of these calves.

Re: …

The attitude is a trait inbedded in that cow family. I have a Dundee daughter out of Advantage's grand dam. Nobody gets near the Dundee while she is eating, not the cows, not the dog, and I even keep my distance. This spring she managed to push a jersey into the feed bunk and who would have died feet up if I wasn't there to see it happen. The Engel's (breeders) have told me that the Klassy cow was the same way.

Re: advantage red

I flushed a cow to Rosedale Advantage-Red, but didn't get any eggs. I think with having Redrose and Allegro in the pedigree he should breed some nice red show calves.

last couple have been bulls and one represents everything I hate in the holstein breed. He is long, tall and so narrow his front legs toe out.His back legs hock in.He can only manage 1 litre per feed when similar sized calves have 3 l.I think this is due to his lack of spring of rib.Calves like this do not live long here because they are out competed at everyturn.Along with the lack of stength is a weak constitution usually.
His dam is a jetmaster(raider x astrojet x ultimate) x 81 buckrogers(starbuck x linmack)x 88 tempo x 88 mooreville rocket kemp son x 88 linmack and then another 2 gen EX and 1 VG. I was most surprised to get this calf and I hope the rest arent like this as we bought another 20 straws recently

Sounds just like a cow family here, old cow by Rudolph knocks hell out of cow at back of herringbone parlour if she can not get in and her 6 month old daughter by Empire can knock you off your feet at the trough in the field if you are not quick enough in putting the feed in the trough. My kind of cows!

Re: …

I like the attitude too, just wish she would stop trying to kill the jerseys. Its pretty clear now that she sees a little brown one and she thinks "Ah, theres by *****".
