Re: Jerseys Bulls

I have used Jade and Sambo to flush my cow, and will be using Minister, Governor, and Excitation. I have heard that the Governor and Minister heifers look awesome.

Use all the Action and Country you can get Posal, these are Avery's best two sons. They are dual purpose Jerseys, they will show AND milk. Watch the udder depth on Country though.

The new Parade sons are worth looking at, tall, milky dairy cows, again watch udder depth and short teats. Louie and Blackstone are looking promising.

Best outcross to put size and butterfat into your Berretta, Barber, Bold bloodlines is Mecca.

Re: …

I know that the Select guys think that Louie could be a breed changing bull, at least for the commercial herds. I don't think he will sire show winners. Another bull to consider is Bellmont. I have seen a few daughters, he has the ability to sire show winners but they also are good production cows.

Beg to differ about Louie's ability to breed a show cow, Parade, Louie's sire was not without his udder faults, but he bred them tall with a deep open and sweeping rib. In the southern hemisphere, he has cranked out a couple of really great young show cows. We could sell any amount of Parade if he was still alive today and I know he was a huge success in Australia, with many happy breeders. His top sons should be popular.

Re: Jerseys Bulls

To be honest I am new to the Jersey breed. However, I know the Luchsingers (breeders of the bull) and they are telling me that he shouldn't be used on my show cows. Our sales rep also has heard this from Select's sire analyst. You could be right though, he might sire different type of cows in other parts of the world based on different genetic bases.

we've been using comerica on all of our jerseys. first calves just hit the ground in the last month. he's been settling with reckless abandon. we'll continue to use him over the next couple of years. a couple of years ago we were using sultan and vintage (dessouir x veronica)
