Olympic Games 2008
Been catching the occasional glimpse of the games as I momentarily pass through the living room. Seems GB is doing pretty well this time, and good old Ulster has contributed to a gold in the mens rowing and a silver in the ladies cycle sprint.
Keep up the good work!

Re: Olympic Games 2008
Unfortunately mine caught a bit of the boxing at lunchtime, and spent the afternoon beating the **** out of each other.
The cyclists have been unbelievable. 7 out of the 10 golds available on the track. Pendleton today was just streets ahead of the Aussie in her final, and the team pursuit knocked huge chunks off of the world record.

Re: Olympic Games 2008
You're right "bigbird" ,Pendleton left the aussie way behind. I'm a Scotsman and its usual for me to support the Aussies if they are playing England at anything ! This is different! It's great to see the Aussies gettin' bushwhacked by the Brits! Chris Hoy is the most successful Scottish Olympian ever to compete for Great Britain.

Re: Olympic Games 2008
According to the BBC, he's the only Briton to have won three golds in a single games for 100 years!

Olympic Games 2008
It's a bit weird to be watching Britons winning so much - seems a different attitude about the whole team. On a more international note I thought Steiners win in the super-heavyweight weightlifting was very dramatic. Amazing to get there after the personal tragedy he had recently been through.

Re: Olympic Games 2008
Bolt looks so smooth and easy, real class.
In the Olympics there's only a medal for the winners. In the european grand prix meetings there are huge bonuses for breaking records. No point smashing it in Bejing when you can make a fortune breaking it several times in Europe.
Anyone else remember Sergei Bubka moving the pole vault mark up 1cm at a time over several seasons? He never attempted to see how high he could really go, just that 1cm at a time and pocket the cash for breaking the record.
