Satriani demanda a COLDPLAY por plagio
Encontré esta noticia en varios periódicos de Lima:
El guitarrista Joe Satriani demandó al grupo británico Coldplay porque argumenta que el exitoso single de la banda "Viva la Vida" es en gran parte una copia de su tema instrumental "If I Could Fly", según informó este viernes la cadena musical MTV.
Satriani acusó de violación de los derechos de autor así como de daños a Coldplay ante la corte federal en Los Angeles y espera una participación en "cualquier y todos los beneficios" obtenidos por la supuesta violación.
El guitarrista asegura que reconoció "partes sustanciales" de su tema "If I Could Fly", del álbum "Is There Love In Space", de 2004, en el hit de Coldplay.
La presentación judicial se llevó a cabo un día después de que el álbum de Coldplay fuera nominado para siete premios Grammy, entre ellos grabación y canción del año por "Viva la Vida".

Y, pese a lo contundente del plagio, los tipos estos de Cold Play hanten ido el descaro de decir lo siguiente en su página web:
"With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours". Coldplay.
En resumen, Coldplay afirma que cualquier similitud entre ambos temas es totalmente "casual" y ellos están "sorprendidos" por ello!!!!
Increible! Es el colmo de la conchudez!

EN EL MUNDO DE LA MÚSICA SIEMPRE ABUNDAN LAS DEMANDAS QUE UNOS ARTISTAS HACEN A OTROS POR PLAGIO. AHORA BIEN, CUANDO ME ENTERÉ DE ESTO, LA VERDAD, SIN HABER ESCUCHADO LA CANCIÓN DE COLDPLAY, YA ESTABA A FAVOR DE SATRIANI. UN MÚSICO DE SU TRAYECTORIA Y TRASCENDENCIA NO CREO QUE SE PONGA A HACER ESTO "POR MIGAJAS" O PARA LLAMAR LA ATENCIÓN.
ACABO DE VER EL ENLACE QUE COLOCÓ MANUEL ALBERTO, Y LE DOY TODA LA RAZÓN A SATRIANI. YA LUEGO DE ESCUCHAR AMBAS VERSIONES, NO HAY DUDAS.
