Penn Playgroups
Would you be interested in starting a playgroup for Penn students with dependents? If so, let us know.
Please include any suggestions and advice you might have.

How many students actually bring their children with them to campus on a daily basis? If there were a regular daycare service available I think this might be easier - especially for those who commute to campus

I agree with mezza. A (or several) Penn playgroups would be great, but I live in the burbs and need to have childcare available for most of the day. The Penn daycare center is expensive ($300 per week versus $170 per week near our house) and the waiting list is ridiculous. I'm breast feeding so we were willing to pay for it so I could still feed him when returning to school, but I've been on the waiting list since June 2005 (before I even became pregnant) and I'm currently number 36. The last estimate for when a spot would be available was Fall 2007...at which point my baby will be ~ 1 year old and I will no longer be breast feeding. For me the critical issue is the lack of childcare near campus (the Penn Infant Center on 42nd also has a 2 year waiting list).

I would love to particiapote in a Penn playgroup. I have a very active 1 year old. It would be great to play with other kids on or near campus in the evenings or weekends.
