Babysitting Forum

Do you babysit or know anyone who does?

Post here if you are looking for a sitter or can offer sitting services to other students.

If you are offering services, please list your name, experience, and availability.

If you need a babysitter, please include your children's ages, needed coverage, and rates.

Re: Babysitting services?

Some tips for Penn parents:

• Start a babysitting pool with other Penn parents. This has worked particularly well when families live in the same neighborhood or building
• Post a flyer in the Grad Center or use the regular PhD messageboards to advertise this "job"
• Ask other parents in your department for babysitting recommendations.

• For babysitting services, Penn's ChildCare Resource Network suggests the following bonded agencies:
      Penn Children's Center (215) 898-5268
      Call-A-Granni (215) 924-8723
      Your Other Hands (215) 790-0990
Please call in advance for reservations, hours, and fee information. Space will be limited.

Re: Babysitting Forum

there are babysitting opportunities listed on Penn's (somewhat hidden) "job board" that undergrads access. Not sure how well it works, but it's probably worth a shot:

Also - I've had luck asking faculty in my department who they use for their kids.

Re: Babysitting Forum

I strongly recommend emailing the Penn School of Nursing to find babysitters or part-time nannys.

The undergrads all have to have child abuse clearances and CPR certification for clinicals, so you know you have those bases covered right off the bat. Plus a lot of the students go into nursing because they really enjoy caring for people--and some are planning to go into pediatrics.

Email Laurissa Berk (berkl@nursing.upenn.edu) & she'll forward your ad to the students list in her weekly jobs email. Remember to give a basic description of your location (e.g. West Philly near Clark Park), and your contact info.
