Grad Parents' playdates - we want your feedback!
We are planning our next Grad Parents' Brunch and Playdate for Saturday, 22 March, but we want your feedback first! (see event description below)
What kinds of activities or games would you like to see offered?
Would you like to invite faculty members with children to the event?
What else would make the event more fun for your family?
While we wait for space to open for the planned Family Resource Center (FRC), we would like to begin offering some activities and resources in the Grad Center's space (for example: toy swap table, bulletin board, etc. ).
What would you like to see offered?
Would you like to have a newsgroup-style listserv where parents could post to one another through an email digest? If not, would you use a messageboard like this one?
Grad Parents' Brunch & Playdate
Saturday, 22 March; 10:30-1pm
Graduate Student Center, First Floor Common Room
Meet other graduate families, enjoy free food & conversation, and have fun!
Managing the demands of graduate school and parenting can be difficult for students, partners, and their families. This event will give you a chance to meet other Penn students and partners to share experiences, find advice, and make new friends. Partners and children are welcome.
We will provide free brunch and craft materials but ask that you please REGISTER in advance

Re: Grad Parents' playdates - we want your feedback!
Okay, hope this helps!
>>What kinds of activities or games would you like to see offered?
It depends on the ages of children attending - 0-18 mo., it would be nice to have a safe space to allow them to crawl and some new toys to entertain them
-for older children, coloring and easy games (bag toss, tic-tac-toe, etc)
>>Would you like to invite faculty members with children to the event?
I don't car. I'm not sure they would come if we invited them.
>>What else would make the event more fun for your family?
The events sound fun already. Perhaps if there were a way to know who/what ages are attending?
FRC
>>What would you like to see offered?
What you've listed sounds good - perhaps some regular playgroups or a dedicated child-friendly space on the 3rd floor?
>>Would you like to have a newsgroup-style listserv where parents could post to one another through an email digest? If not, would you use a messageboard like this one?
I don't mind either, though I already have a lot of email in my inbox that I don't really read.

Re: Grad Parents' playdates - we want your feedback!
Thanks for your feedback!
For those who would like a newsgroup/listserv to talk to other grad parents, we're testing out a google group that would allow you to get regular digests and updates without having to wait for our monthly listserv email.
Check it out and let us know what you think!
http://groups.google.com/group/penn-swd
(you have to create a google account to post, but not to read messages)

Re: Grad Parents' playdates - we want your feedback!
We can't make it on the 22nd because we are heading out of town to my inlaws for Easter. But we appreciate the playdates VERY much and look forward to the next one. We love the chance to get together with other grad parents, and my kids really like coming to campus and meeting other children!
Thanks for the google group. I will test it out.
