Dragon Academy - Cloud of Fire

[ooc]All right, kiddies, we're starting back. This is at night. I'm going to start with my own character, borrowing from Tanja and Sebastian a little bit.

All of you new characters: You can introduce yourselves as students now if you want or you can wait a little while. Be descriptive, be fair to your fellow students, or my hammer will come crashing down. Thanks.[/ooc]

"Hold up. Something's not right."

They stood, cloaked in the underbrush. Night had fallen and dim yard lights lit the paths. There were no lights in the classroom buildings. "What do you see?"

Michael slowly stood, wings pulled tightly back and goggles pushed onto his forehead. "I don't see anything...I just have a bad feeling."

Sebastian pulled one of the branches aside to look around, then turned to Michael. "I don't get it. You're a flyer and a firebreather. How do you have danger sense?"

"Not much of a firebreather either, you might recall. I'm a broken dragon," he mumbled, then spoke louder. "It's not an anthrozil ability. It's just a bad feeling."

A shadowy figure crossed the empty field in front of them, twenty feet out from the tree line and the three sank back quietly, careful not to move their feet. "What do we do?"

"Ya got me, Tanja." Michael kept watch on the field.

"I think we should pray." She held out her hands and Michael and Sebastian took them, hesitantly on Michael's part. Her resemblance to Smaantha brought dark memories for him, especially remembering her at the prayer meetings at school in the mornings.

She started to pray for wisdom and protection when an explosion rocked the area. Michael flicked his wings out in case rubble came their way. he lowered them again and turned to see one of the middle floors of the boy's dorm on fire, the wall facing them blown out and raining onto the ground.

Michael stared in horror for a moment, then felt Sebastian hit his shoulder. "What do we do?"

Michael merely gaped for a moment, not sure what to say. Then he steeled himself. I am a teacher here. These kids are my responsibility. "Tanja, you and Sebastian need to go to the dorms. Evacuate everyone you can and bring them in here. When you get that done, Sebastian, I need you to come and find me in the main school. I'm going to be doing a little hunting."

Tanja raised up defensively. "What about me?"

"I saw you with that girl we rescued. You are wonderful for soothing children in a panic. I need you to watch over them and protect them." He unslung the shotgun on his back and handed it and the box of shells to the girl. "Do not allow them to be taken. Stop them however you can. There are caves over there, they used to be some kind of mine works, but I've not had the chance to see if the map on the conference room wall is accurate. Take them there if necessary. Sebastian and I will rejoin you when we can."

As the other two parted from him, Michael peered at his wings and sighed. "Invisibility is more important than maneauverability." He opened his bag and tucked his glaring white wings into his coat. Pistols drawn, a mumbled prayer on his lips, Michael exploded from teh underbrush at a flat run towards the center of teh school.

Re: Dragon Academy - Cloud of Fire

Sebastian took off immediately after he had recieved his charge. The flames illuminated the wreckage. The sound of paniced screams and utter chaos filled his ears as he tried in vain to remain calm and focus on his mission.

Sebastian landed at the foot of the dorms where a wall had stood only moments ago. It's time to see if you can walk thgout the fire Sebastian. He jumped to an opening. It was a dorm he didn't know who it belonged too but there wasn't much left of it. He made his way through the flames and collapseing building. The bodies of anthrozils were scattered left and right.

His former training made him keep an eye out for fragments of a bomb and the point where the explostion occured. As he drew nearer to the center of the building he could tell he was getting closer to the origin of the explosion.

He darted through what had formerly been a corner of a wall and he saw a body burned nearly to ashes. He instantly recognised the black robe and the few unburnt scales. Titus, he shouted in his head. There was something underneath him. Something moving. Thinking quickly he grabbed Titus' robe and moved the charred body.

A blond man in about his twenties was lying underneath. Blood flowed from a hole in his forearm and the wounds covering his head. This man was still alive but just barely. Sebastian lifted him onto his shoulders and dragged him to the nearest exit he could find. He moved the man to his arms, glided down to the ground, and ran away from the building. He sat the man under a tree and returned to find the source of the other cries.

Michael's mad dash through the yard was anticlimactic and things were quiet until the office erupted in flames. An explosion blew the windows out and Michael turned, using his coat to shield him from the glass. "I hope no one was in there."

There were several more explosions and Michael's one man charge turned into a slow retreat. His backwards pace halted when a gunshot tufted the ground behind him. He leapt forward and fired a few answering rounds. There was a grunt, then silence. Michael shook his head and ran to the office building.

Shadnough sat up once the explosion sounded. She was outside gazing at the stars when the fire burst into her line of vision. It was the boys dorm, that she new of. The fire reminded her of when she last saw her father. She grabbed the candlestone wrapped in foil that hung arround her neck.

Just then an Idea sprang into her head. She ran to the boy's dorm. It was a dangerious idea yet it would help. She stopped a good six feet away from the fire. She pulled the candle stone from her neck and opened a corner if the foil.

She imediately felt dizzy yet the fire at the window also went inside the stone. She held it there as it sucked in more fire untill fire wasn't coming out of that window anymore. She closed teh foil and colapesed onto her knee's.

She knew the fire wouldn't last inside the stone. After a second of recooperating her strength she stood and went to the next window to repeat the exersize.

'Well, It's better then standing my doing nothing.' she thought to herself as she lifted the foil again.

The silence of the night was broken by the blast, and the flash. The sight was a familiar one... destruction. A shadow high amist a tall tree leaned against the trunk from its perch on the branches. "It has begun." came the mysterious voice.

Hearing the huge blast of the explosion, Ben suddenly jumps from his chair. Setting down the book he was reading, he sprints to the stairs to see what happened. Half way down, Ben sees a red glow from flames, and turns around. Running to the open window in the corner of his room, he slips out of his jacket and unfolds his crimson-gold wings. He quickly jumps out the window, and takes to flight, looking around, seeing the chaos below.

Elessar looked around at his sorroundings. All around him was fire. Wait! A form raced through the flames. That person looks familiar! "Hey you!" Elessar shouted. "What's going on?"

The young man turned around. What was that guy's name? Ah! Sebastian!

Sebastian didn't recognize Elessar. "Get any survivors you find out of here!" He yelled at Elessar. Elessar quickly looked around and found that there were no people on this floor. He braced himself and crashed through the ceiling to the next floor. He flew back down. "Sebastian! There's tons of people up here on this next floor! I could use your help!"
Elessar quickly grabbed three unconscious bodies and flew out a burning window. He dropped them off at the ground and headed back to the third floor, where Sebastian was already collecting people. "Any ice breathers among this crowd?" he yelled as he picked up three more guys.
"No!" Sebastian yelled back.

"Oh, bother. I just wanted to get settled in. Is that too much to ask?" Latine hollered at the ceiling. Poking her head out the door she shouted "Hey, what's up? Is there a full breed on the roof? Somebody?"

[ooc]Someone brought a candlestone to a Dragon Academy? I know the story, but I just can't get over how nuts that sounds.[/ooc]

The office, other than a few unrecognizable bodies, seemed empty. Michael made his way through the flames out of the small building and headed to the main academic facility.

Shadnough colapesed onto the ground again. Lying on her back, she breathed heavily. She had only gone to four rooms and consumed the fire and she felt exaughsted. She sat up.

Looking at eh fire, and the light it gave, It brought her strength. She used the light the fire gave to strengthen herself.

Shadnough glanced ah the canlde stone. she used it enough. She placed it back arround her neck and ran inside. Right next to the door on the wall was a fire alarm.

"Should I pull it?" She asked herself.
