Adopt A Newbie
This area is set up to help newbies who'd like a hand getting used to the Dragons In Our Midst Forum's members, rules, and generally get a feel for the culture here. Here's how it works: A member who's been around the block a few times here (the adopter) adopts a newbie (the adoptee), and answers any questions they may have, no matter how silly or small they are. This helps the newbie fit in and make friends quicker and easier.
NOTE: Please don't use this topic for conversation, or post replies asking for adoption.
Please PM an Adopter if you wish to be adopted.
"Newbie?"
"Am I a newbie?"
If you think you need a hand with anything on the board, be it technical questions, feeling overwhelmed, or just plain need a friend to introduce you to the club, feel free to consider yourself a "Newbie."
"Do I have to sign up for this?"
Not a chance. The program is formally deemed "non-formal." You only need to take advantage of this if you want to.
"Okay, how do I get 'Adopted'?"
If you do want to be adopted, all you have to do is read through the list of adopters and pick somebody you feel you have something in common with.
At the bottom of each bio, there is a section that will tell you if the person already has adoptees and how many they are willing to adopt at one time. If the adopter is at their limit, it's best to pick someone who's open.
Once you find the person you would like to be adopted by, send them a private message (PM) by clicking on "Send PM to [their name]", which can be found just below their post.
That person will PM you in return and you can start bombarding them with lots of questions.
Adopting
"Should I volunteer to adopt?"
It's encouraged that you've reached "Dragon Master" (300+ posts) before you sign up to adopt, but if you feel you're settled in to the point where you can help, that should be just fine.
Applying to adopt
If you qualify and want to volunteer, then all you have to do is write a short bio. Tell as much about yourself as you feel comfortable with. At the end of the bio, please include these details:

This should be updated whenever you take on an adoptee, or an adoption is finalised.
I'd like to keep adopting, but I just don't have the time."
No problem. If you are leaving the board, or you just don't have the time - but you still have adoptees - please organise for another volunteer to take over the adoption. Once you have no adoptees, edit your bio or ask the admin to remove it.

My name is Arianna and I'm 17. I'm not a Dragon Elite, but I am a moderator, so I know the ropes pretty well. I'm a college student. I love to read, write, play piano, and shoot really big guns. You can ask me as many questions as you want, no matter how pointless you think they are.  I promise not to bite, or shoot for that matter.

Brief Info: I LOVE Star Wars!!  I have 1 dog, whose name is Asher, a miniature poodle.I can probably answer most questions about anything on the board, And if not, I'll give you my best answer. I also like playing video games and fooling around with computers and the internet. I'm currently looking for the script to national treasure, so me and my friends can film it.
I hope this gives you all the info you need to make your decision.
