Love is all (A short story, entirely G-RATED)
Love is all

This is a short story about my two newest characters, Talmus and Linfey, who are engaged. (But not in this story, yet.)
Talmus walked along slowly, his face revealing none of the emotions whirling around an around inside of him. His hands were sweaty, and inside his pocket, he clutched velvety box. He stopped in front of a small house with white shuttered windows, breathed in, then out again, and stepped up to the door. His hand trembled slightly, but not noticeably, as he reached for the doorbell. He rang it. A female voice asked,
“Who is it?”
“Talmus.”
He answered, trying desperately not to let his nervousness show in his words. Linfey opened the door and smiled at Talmus.
“Wanna come in?”
“Um, could we just go for a walk?”
“Sure.”
She reached behind the door and grabbed a jacket.
“Mom! Talmus and I are going for a walk!”
Linfey’s mom came up behind her and winked at Talmus. Talmus grinned shakily. Linfey’s mom said,
“Okay, be back before eleven.”
Talmus glanced at his wristwatch and saw that it was ten o’clock. She must really trust me. Before, we couldn’t even stay out past nine-thirty. Linfey kissed her mom on the cheek and stepped out the door. They walked towards the park a the end of the street. They were walking under an archway when Talmus tentatively reached for Linfey’s hand. She smiled, and placed her hand in his. He squeezed her hand and grinned. They found a bench covered with fall leaves, and Talmus brushed it off for her. She sat down, and he beside her. Talmus wiped the sweat off of his hands on his jeans and sighed. Linfey said,
"Beautiful night, isn't it?"
"Yeah."
In his mind, Talmus thought, But you're even more beautiful. Linfey turned to him and asked,
"You're staring at me funny, why?"
Talmus stuttered,
"I-I-"
He took a deep breath,
"It's because of how much I love you."
He whispered. Linfey smiled and took his hand.
"I love you, too."
Talmus eased himself off the bench and got on one knee beside her. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the box,
"Linfey, will you marry me?"
He opened the box and the gold band with a diamond heart glittered in the faint moonlight. Linfey took in a sharp breath. Thinking something was wrong, Talmus said,
"Well, I mean, I dont want to put you on the spot-"
"Talmus,"
Linfey smiled,
"Yes, I'll marry you."
Talmus swelled inside, and a smile of ure happiness broke out on his face. He took her hand, and slipped the ring onto her finger. Linfey reached down and hugged him close. He rached his arms around her, hugging her in return. Then she looked at the her hand and said,
"Talmus, it goes on the right hand."
Talmus flushed and corrected his error, getting back up onto the bench.
"You've made me so happy, Linfey."
"I'm happy too. I love you."
"I love you too."
Talmus looked at his watch out of the corner of his eye. It was ten fifteen.
"Linfey?"
"Yes?"
"Do you want to go to dinner?"
"Yes, I do."
They stood up and began to walk downtown.
*&*
Later, when Talmus saw Linfey going into her house, he said,
"Linfey."
"Yes Talmus?"
"Can I come over tomorrow?"
"Yes. G'night."
Talmus ran up to her, kissed her on the cheek, and said,
"G'night."
And walked slowly away. Linfey put a hand on her cheek, smiled, then went inside.

Thanks! I never wrote a love story before, never tried. But I think this came out okay. Wait til you hear the wedding/wedding plans. That's the next segment.
