Oh, boy, I'm gonna be brave here...don't be to harsh, I'm still a newbie! Actually, be as honest as need be-I'm always up for pointers.
Here's a brief little essay I wrote after a Mountain Dew binge...hopefully all that excess caffine will excuse my errors =)
Do you believe in magic? What if I told you that, without a doubt, magic, bone fide, fairy tale magic, was real? Would you nod and smile and secretly disagree with me, or would you immediately scoff at me? What if I told you I can instantly transport you anywhere you wished, if you only had a little faith and imagination?
Do me a favor-close your eyes really tight, and don't open them until I tell you. No, wait, that will never work. With your eyes all sealed up like that, you'll never be able to red the magic words. Just pay close attention to what I'm going to say.
Imagine you are in a forest-dark, green, quiet, and ancient. Even the air seems old to you as it knits iself around you like your father's sweater.
You smell pine needles and decay, and a hint of wetness.
The trees surround you and soar overhead, creating such a dense ceiling, you can't see the sun. You're not even certain of the sun's existence, the foliage is so impenitrible.
You listen for the twitter and blather of birds, but there is none. The forest, like a stern, austere uncle, doesn't aloow songbirds. The only music that floats through that thick air is the breath of trees an the heartbeat of their leaves.
The ground beneath your feet is spongy, and bouncy, like the wet trampoline in your backyard. You feel as though if you simply reach out, you could collect the humidity in the air with your hands, like cobwebs.
The taste in your mouth is of soil and moss, like the taste of a carrot straight from the garden.
Your spine tingles as you sense someone coming up behind you. Don't fret, it's only me, the magician.
You say you don't believe in magic, yet you have found yourself in this forest. With a few magic words, and a with a bit of imagination, I transported you, just as i promsied I would.
Would you call that magic?
No doubt.

That was crazy cool. My imagination is so vast and creative that when I read, no matter what it is, I can see it in my head. So as each word played out, I could feel it...taste it...hear and smell it. It played with the senses very well, and I enjoyed it entirely!
