getting started
Can I talk about my art in this forum? If not, feel free to move this post where it belongs.
As you know I had a long, hard battle to get my art supplies back. Now I've had them back for weeks and i'm having a hard time getting started.
First I spent a lot of time trying to find a particular photo I once tried to paint as a teenager. I borrowed my sisters "100 years of National Geographic" CD-ROM set and searched through every single photo they ever pritnted up to 1980. When I couldn't find it, I searched a lot of decades one or two more times! Finally I came to the sad conclusion that I won't find it.
So I chose another picture. Next I discovered (or rediscovered) that I don't really like sketching. It's kind of helpful to be able to sketch the picture onto the canvas in the right proportions, but I'm really rusty at that.
So I decided to draw a grid on the photo and a faint grid several times larger on the canvas. But I couldnt find a ruler or an art eraser so I waited till I had a chance to go buy them. lol!
Delays delays delays...its like I'm afraid to start!
I think its because I only have a few canvases, I don't want to screw up. I'm so rusty! Now I have the ruler and I'm planning to start work on Wednesday because I have to drive someone to Toronto tomorrow.

That sounds great Dy! That's the way Alex and Geddy come up with the music. Just start and see where the explorations take them. maybe I should try that instead of trying to paint from a photograph

Re: getting started
I'll try that method for the second one. Now I've found a pic I really love and I'm transferring it to a canvas. Wish me beginners luck!
