Kumho next year (2005)

quote:

Paul,

No problem mate. Yep, Dave is finishing it off once & for all...new lighter Bonnet, new Front & rear bumper, new wings, new discs & calipers, new roof, new front panel, new bushes, tidy up the wiring into sleaving, finish spraying the interior & spray the engine bay and fit the Carbs, a new car virtually!

Depending on regs and what sort of power increase the Carbs give we'll decide what to do with the engine rebuild after xmas.

Are you planning on staying in Class D next year or going up to C? I think Class C will be the most competitive as Lea, Stuart & Matt all have to move up I believe

Dom - Not sure about next year to be honest... I spoke to Stuart Lockyer to see if there was any progress on what the new classes will be, but it sounds like there's no decision as yet. If I can't get the car running on Carbs or throttle bodies, I will run in a lower class... it's pointless trying to run against cars with that spec. I'm trying all avenues to get hold of a manifold now though... really struggling. I guess Karl will be running against Lea, Stuart etc ...ahh well, it'll be lonely at the back! lol

Yeah, sounds like a bit of a mess mate.I think you could still run carbs and be in Class D as if the now limit of 180 at the wheels is kept then you could still do it. Can you not find a manifold? Will Dave Isles at Griffin not make fewer than 5? I know a few fabrication companies, do you want me to see if I can get a set made from mine? ****, I feel really bad about putting it on here now!emoticon

Karen might not have the cash for next year so I might end up with a spare car!! If I can't find another driver then I might sell it in which case you can have the Carbs & Manifold off that. emoticon

I spoke to dave and it's really the fact that the casting company that makes them will only do a minimum of five (20 seperate casts), so that's the problem there. I'm guessing one off fabrication will be a nightmare, but if it's a possibility then I'll look into it. Don't worry about posting mate..no worries and at least they went to another Kumho racer...keeps em being used for real motorsport and not traffic light drag racing! lol

Shame about Karen...is she struggling to get sponsorship? Although I'll be in line for those carbs and manifold if they come up for sale!! emoticon

Yep, she's struggling, I think she's got about 1/4 of it, I always knew she had to raise the money but I expected that she would could make up the shortfall herself as we all do, but she won't. I'm going to have to go back to all the people that were interested and that I turned down and see what I can do! emoticon

There must be somewhere else that will cast them in smaller numbers

That's a bummer, but I guess it's what we are always up against with motorsport...funding! (Me too right now for a full season next year!)

Yeah I'm sure somewhere else would cast them, but they're Dave's drawings, so might be difficult. I'll try that as a last resort I think!

Yep, cash is king mate. I'm spent out with the new car, finishing the E30 and this bloody wedding. I've spent all my savings, sold everything I own and then borrowed some, so unless I find a driver I'll have no way to recoup it! But I LOVE IT emoticon emoticon

Fritz may have the answer mate
