I would be 99% certain its the dizzy or rotor arm......under low rpm, any defects wont be noticed, its when high rpm are used that the defects show up....

Right I think Im going to try and do a deal - tell him to fix the problem and I will give him £700 or I will take it away for £500 and sort it myself.

Re: When The New Zones Down

Ok, the guy is a tw*t.

Just got off the phone to him. Gave him my deal and he said he couldnt go lower than £600 - thats down from the £800 he couldnt go below this morning!

I told him the possible problems of the cutting out, with the arch work and the cambelt change thats getting close, to which he replied he thinks its a clutch problem??
He said the clutch was slipping and causing the engine to cut at 4k rpm. I questioned this and he said "well, its a sensor on the clutch thats playing up - this then changed to "it needs a new clutch" and then a crank sensor???

Well, I did give the car some stick and I couldnt get the clutch the slip, but I may of agreed with the crank sensor.

I then said I needed to check out if it could be clutch problem because Ive never heard of a clutch causing an engine cut at 4k and would get back to him at the weekend or Monday at the latest - he said "the car would be sold by then" - I said, "not with that problem at that price, especially if it needs a new clutch!"

My plan (unless another E30 comes up in the mean time) is to go back down at the end of next week and offer him £250-£300, and then most likely walk away because he was such a tw*t.

Stupid thing is, if he hadnt started talking crap about the price of a new clutch (£80 fitted!!) I would probably have given the £600.
