hi all, love the forum.... what sort of protection do u have on your server? i have a friend who works at norwich union protecting there systems, createing expert rules with the firewall. he could screw it down so tight......no one would be getting in! anyway you shouldnt let the little nip get his satisfaction.

jimmysnap is back, Hello to all that know me and the ones that dont, been away while the new zone was created and arrived back clicked onto my favorites and here i landed, so nothings changed for me. Got stuck into the restoration of my 87series1 sport today and im gonna be busy - sh*t am i gonna be busy - better warm up the welder. Its got alot to live up to after the bexly beast.To quote "I have a dream". This hacker souns like a spunkbag.

The software used to run the forum is free. This is great, as it makes for better software as anyone can improve it and make things for it,, but the downside is that anyone can also get the source code and scour it for exploits....or create them. even if you set up the firewall to block everything, you still have to leave port 80 open to serve the website, this is all that a hacker needs if he has an exploit that he has created thats designed to work on port 80.

Ok,this stuff is freaking me out now..
I havent been able to use the zone for about 2 weeks now..
i linked a Photobucket URL to it and the zone banned me saying i was trying to attack the site...i asked Dazleeds to contact the admin team telling the problem of which they said it isnt there end and my IP wasnt/isnt banned 
I was just trying some stuff out today as an e30 zone URl as i kept getting the same meg over and over when i tried to get on there...
Basicaly i thought the realtionshoip wit the zone was over unless i done a complete format which i wasnt going to do..i tried with diff acounts,diff IE browsers and nothing
Then all of a suddern i get here..dont know how either and i see this stuff about being hacked etc etc...lol WTF is going on 
I pi$$ed off you the admin team are having big problems here but maybe i can get back on the zone again once its sorted..
Ive had alot of things go on lately that is pure coincidence but this whole mess just tops em all..

Ive had alot of things go on lately that is pure coincidence but this whole mess just tops em all..
As far as I know, you're not banned from the E30zone.
As I understand it (which isn't very much at all), the ownership of the zone's host changed a few months ago, and basically, because we have grown so big, they want us out, and have been less than helpfull in sorting any problems that have arisen, and it some cases have actually just switched us off rather than adress a problem.
All this is responsible for the zone going down for hours or days at a time over the last few months, and for other odd problems, like members being apparently banned.
As a result of all this we have been working towards moving to a new server in the near future which should sort all these problems.
This latest failure,however, is nothing to do with all this. We have been hacked and attacked by some 21 year old Vietnamese nerd, who was also responsible for the recent pop ups that appeared.
We had to shut the zone down quickly to avoid irrepairable damage.
Found out today that the move to the new server is further advanced than I thought, and we should be soon back up and running on the new server, with all the damage repaired, and no further problems.
