Sealing tailgate bottom trim One proverbial problem on the touring tailgate is the rust which occurs in the recess at the bottom of the window. This recess is filled with a trim and generally packed with mastic which is messy, both when putting in a also when checking cum servicing this as on an ammual basis.
Having two tourings this is a job I would rather simplify and feel that packing heavy duty grease in their instead of mastic (which tends to dry out and then the rust develops again) would be a better and easier to service option. I feel it would also be better for keeping rust at bay. Always remember that with the WWII Willy Jeeps we used to say that the best way of keeping rust at bay was to spread old engine oil on it - and it seem to work.
Comments please and thanks in advance for any you give.
