idling problems


having a wierd problem with my is, every single time it starts, it does this wierd thig where it goes to about a thousand revs goes up and down twice then settles???

anyone know whats going on?

forgot to mention..only seems to do it when warm, starts perfect when cold

I get the same with my M20. It's done it for years and I've never got to the bottom of it.

i,c,v will play up from cold.it may be the air flow meter.
or a split air intake hose to the throttle body.or any of the breather pipes around
the rocker cover and inlet manifold.
i'd check these first. emoticon

There might be a vacuum leak somewhere, you should be able to hear a hissing noise when the car's idling if there is.
