Stainless steel exhaust manifold??
Found a nicely fabed stainless steel exhaust manifold on ebay which I fancy buying to freshen up my engine bay.
Are there any advantages to them? I only ask because the add says it adds 15bhp (yawn). Are there any REAL advantages?

Re: Stainless steel exhaust manifold??
the only manifold you will get a gain from is a btb2 or genuine alpina acs manifold and the btb2 is around £600. a cheap copy wont really give you any power increase it just looks nice and sounds nice. bss325i no doubt will be along soon to tell you more about the pro's and cons

Re: Stainless steel exhaust manifold??
For left hand M42 cars only, that manifold wont clear the steering column. Also, I've yet to hear of a stainless manifold giving better power than the M42's stock item.

Re: Stainless steel exhaust manifold??
been there done that, i looked into it myself and there for lhd cars, although i asked someone in america who gets them from over here in the uk, but the company have stopped selling them over here, but are still suppling them in the US, its probs because the fanny mould is too big to clear the steering colum on the uk cars

The RHD M42 manifolds go from 4-2 much sooner than the LHD versions in order to get around the steering column.
