Forum Rules
Guidelines.
1.1 Conceptual Overview
These rules are in place to ensure the E30 Zone forums continue to be a friendly place where members can learn and share information on a variety of subjects. E30s is what we originate from and forms the basis of many topics, but this is by no-means the limit of the subjects that can now be discussed in these forums and these rules should act as a guide to all posts made here.
1.2 General Forum Overview
Each forum is based around a specific subject which is obvious from its title and the brief description given. Threads and posts within each of the forums should be in line with the subject of that forum. The general forum is open for posts on any subject not covered by the more specific forums so long as its within the rules.
1.3 Warez
Do not post requests for warez. The same applies to links to warez, or resources such as FTPs. Warez is defined as copyrighted materials (such as software) that are otherwise illegal to distribute.
1.4 Porn
Do not post requests for porn or links to porn these forums are used by people of all ages and as such all material should be suitable for people of all age groups. Porn is defined as sexually explicit material. Nudity of any kind is not permitted.
1.5 Images
Image tags are enabled in many forums and this proves to be a very useful facility for enhancing threads. Attaching images into the forum itself has however been disabled to preserve bandwidth, so any images you wish to display will have to be already visible on the web, or uploaded by you to your own webspace. Any images you post or link to must be suitable for viewing on the forums. For information on how to use image tags please read the appropriate section of the FAQ.
When you post an image/link on these forums YOU the poster are responsible for that image/link and should ensure that it isnt against the forums rules, UK law or US law or general good taste expectations we expect.
If you choose to post an image/link on these forums that is hosted on some webspace that is not directly controlled by you and that image/link is changed then YOU as the poster of that image/link are still responsible for it and any action that will be taken as a result of posting that image will be taken against YOU.
Image/File Leeching (using images/files from other peoples webspace) as described in point 2 above is frowned upon in most communitys on the net and actually carries an immediate ban in many of these communities. I would suggest any images/files that you post on these forums are either hosted on your own webspace that you control or are links from reputable sites that will not change to something that could get you in trouble.
1.6 If You Break the Rules...
...your post will be edited by one of the forum moderators/administrators who will post an appropriate warning/explanation as to why your post was unsuitable and thus edited. If you continue to break the rules, despite continued warnings from the moderators and forum admins, you are liable to be banned from posting.
In extreme cases where illegal activities have taken place it may also be necessary to make reports of these activities to your ISP so that further action can be taken and rest assured that if this is necessary it will be escalated to the highest level.
2. The Rules
2.1 Postings containing racist, sexist or any other discriminatory abuse will be removed and an explanation/warning left in its place. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind here.
2.2 URLs for Warez/Crackz/Porn/Viruses or Hacking websites will be edited and the poster reminded on the thread not to post URLs of this nature. Continued abuse will result in your being banned from posting.
2.3 Postings that are personally abusive towards another member of the forums or threads that become heavily abusive will be edited or deleted. Where the abuse is directed at you then a mod or admin should be notified. Where a whole thread has turned to abuse it should be closed immediately, as should any threads that attempt to re-ignite the flaming. Should a user continue to direct heavy abuse towards one or more members, they will be warned and may receive a ban, temporary or permanent.
Please do not bring petty feuds or grudges with you to this forum, be they online or real-life disagreements. This is not a place for you to fight with people, if you do not like a user or non-user, then keep it to yourselves. No-one needs to be subjected to your arguments, and as much as some people may enjoy watching these pointless rows, they are not permitted here and will be removed from the forum, the same as any other heavy abuse or flaming. Take it somewhere else.
2.4 You may use a signature in your posts. You can specify in your profile a signature to use at the bottom of your posts. When you post, there is a tick box option to use your signature. A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 560 pixels width x 150 pixels height and with a maximum (combined) file size of 80k. You may also add 3 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image. If no images are used then using up to 7 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. If you have specified a signature in your profile, the box will be automatically ticked for you. Signatures are a great way of showing off your image creation skills and giving out info on yourself, but please try and stick to these rules or action will be taken to remove/modify your signature. If a mod or admin thinks your signature is too big (padding text with blank lines, etc) then it will be removed or re-structured for you. Signatures of course must also conform to all other forum rules and decency expectations. Please try and avoid posting your signature (if it comprises of large images) on every post you make - using the quick reply box will not include your sig in a post you create when using it. Should you do this constantly, it is possible it will be removed.
2.5 Excessive swearing may be edited at the moderators discretion. The emphasis should be placed on the fact that young children may read the postings and should not be subjected to postings containing too many swear words.
2.6 Cross-forum spamming is not allowed. Any threads that have been spammed across many sub-forums will be removed.
2.7 Topics that are on the incorrect forum or are misplaced should be replied to, explaining that the post will be moved to the relevant forum, and moved to its correct location.
3. Etiquette
In addition to these guidelines the following etiquette should be adhered to when using the forums
3.1 Moderators will not flaunt or abuse their privileges. They should not close or delete threads which aren't covered in the guidelines or threaten to ban anyone without first consulting the Forum Admins.
3.2 Moderators must follow the guidelines themselves when posting.
3.3 If someone questions why a thread has been edited/closed/deleted then an explanation should be posted. Should this decision be challenged the Forum Manger should be contacted to verify the moderator's decision. If a user seems like theyre just trying to be a nuisance to others, they will be at first warned, then given a temporary ban from the forums.
3.4 Spamming: While we appreciate that these forums are somewhat popular, spamming for the purpose of postcount increase is not tolerated. If an admin or mod thinks a user is doing this, an admin will reset their post count. Continued spamming will see the user temporarily banned from posting.
3.5 Posting any kind of personal information on someone (who isnt yourself) without their consent is not permitted and will be removed. Should another user post something on or about you that dont want to be on the public forums, contact an administrator or moderator, and they will remove it for you
