well i know you know alot more than me about this **** but I read somewhere that the battery terminal is like a noise hub because everything is grounded there or something like that.

i know you said its not the hu but i gotta ask. did you ground the hu to the car chasis or is it grounded to the ground wire that was already there.

i ran a new ground for the HU straight to the batt. i also used my ipod as a source instead of the HU and still got the noise. i also tried other amps i have and got noise from them. and its not being picked up in the speaker wire because if the amps are off when the cars on their is no noise.
and iv never heard that cam ill have to look into it but essentially the chassis is grounded at the batter as well and other devices are grounded to the chasis so...

mat do you have a battery in the trunk? before when i had my jl amps in the car i got some alt whine. since i have the battery in the back, i went straight to the battery and it got rid of it.
