Chad Lee...
yo dude...
i was thinking about the design you made up for me... the port seems like it would suffocate a little being just inches from the back hatch and having to escape up and over the top of the box. you also said the port was almost half the cubic inches you had wanted to make it.
i could either just move the port from there to the top or you can design a larger port for me for this same size enclosure. this box wont stay in for long and im only building it to really get air moving. you said i would lose a little spl with a less cubic inch port. you can even tune it a little lower if needed, like 31-33hz... it should build pressure like crazy at 27-32hz... i love the lows...
there is enough room for a large port on the top and i could angle the subs so that they would fit on top. i just need another port designed pretty much but on the top.
hey thanks dude...
you get your new box this weekend, huh?
did you see i got one of those memphis mojo mc2000ds from my friend? i gotta get a HO alt before i can run it. and i havent got another battery but it will be a yellow top again, i like the way the yellow matches all the yellow caps and stuff under my hood. haha...
ok, thanks...

Re: Chad Lee...
yeah. nice amp man. memphis rocks!!!!
as for the port, you can make it bigger or smaller. that is up to you. its really easy man.
its really hard to do the port at the top of the box cause your subs will be in the way. if you can place your subs so there is space then you can do it.
or....
see how the port is horizontal? well you can make it verticle. it might fit. let me see what i can get. your box is just not too big to be trying out different stuff though tremor.

Re: Chad Lee...
the top of the box is 28x42, i already planned to set the subs at an angle and space them to one end and have the port at the other.
i can put the same port thats already there verticle no problem, but i wanted to try the extra cubic inches so i can increase the SPL by a touch. i really like the small box i got right now cause i like it below the window line, but this is just a fun box. im not going for numbers really, i just want a big loud box to occomodate the brutal nature of these subs for a little while...
i would love to learn how to calculate port tuning. from what i have seen it looked complicated but i havent tried to study the equations and all that...
but yeah, thanks and ill just see what you can come up with. the way im going to put them at an angle there should be around a foot at the end to spare?...

Re: Chad Lee...
hey man, actually, after looking back there and kinda looking at the area, it does look like a squeeze if the port is on one end...
but... after rethinking, it looks like there is quite abit of room to do something like this...
and here is a slight comparison of the box in there now. it is 40 wide x 19 tall and 24 deep so there will be 4 more inches of depth...
hey, if its not going to make that much difference increasing the port area i will just take the port design you already gave me and just put it on the top like in the photo i drew in mspaint...

Re: Chad Lee...
ohhhhh i see what you mean by a tight squeeze. i didn't realize your port would be backed up against the rear hatch.
i like the first pic idea.

Re: Chad Lee...
yeah, the box is actually pushed back from the backseats but that is where it will sit with the extra 4 inches... way too close, this is my fun box, i want that port shooting the roof...
grrrrr... just noticed, there may not even be enough room to accomodate the original port as it is 8 inches tall, that is a squeeze also...
especially if i want to countersink my subs, and that is my plan...

Re: Chad Lee...
yeah dude, lol...
please design another port like the top one, i like that one a crap load too, its almost like that one box you made that angled and shot up the back glass... cause all that pressure is going to go straight up and to the front in my car since the box goes to the damn hatch door haha...

Re: Chad Lee...
you can go with smaller ports. its not going to make a lot of difference. not audible at least.
get yourself some graph paper and draw it out by hand first. that is what i do. each square would equal 1 inch so you get a feel for the size.
