Mach 5 MAW 12s... (pt 1)

Okay so, I was sitting there on the couch watching some lame TV show on the family channel, when all of a sudden I see this blue thing go past the window. Our front steps go up past the window btw. So I get up and look out and there's a Canada Post truck out there. I'm like wtf, they aren't supposed to be here 'til Tuesday. So I open the door and there they are. So I'm like "SICK!!!", and I thank the dude and bring em in. Get it open, they were packed nicely. They're WAY heavier than my EHQS12. Everything looked good. Got em hooked up to my little Sony stereo, which is supposed to put out 170wrms at 6 ohms. The suspension was already pretty soft so I didn't bother breaking them in.

After looking at them a little more I noticed there was some rust in the pole vents, and one of the surrounds isn't quite centered. For the rust, should I even worry about it, or should I get some scotch bright and spin it around in there, after putting something in to stop the little bits from going into the motor? For the surround, is it a big deal? Should I let Mark know? Should I get out the little razor knife and re-glue it in the middle?

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with them so far. I just gotta live through this week, so I can go over to my Dad's on the weekend and build the enclosure and let em bump. I'll definitely get a review up with some pics.

UPDATE: Well, I went ahead and emailed Mark. The rust is a humidity issue and doesn't matter, and the surround is actually centered fine, it has something to do with the gasket. The next hurdle is this week lol.

nope. I gotta live through this week first. As long as my head doesn't explode from the frustration emoticon on the weekend I'm going to my Dad's to build the box and hook em up. I'll get pt 2 up with a real review, box pics, and pics of them installed. Maybe a video. It'll be ****ty though because all I got is my Dad's camera phone. Can't ****in' wait though.

well I hooked em up at 4 ohms, freeair, and they sounded tighter than my ehqs does in an enclosure. This wait is killing me. Plus, I got messed up and I thought I had to be at school by 7:30. So I got up at 6:45 and realized at 7:40, when I was about to leave that I had 45 mins before I actually had to leave.

They look clean to me. Playing them free air isn't going to sound like much. When I got the Eclipse from Isaac I tried it on my home stereo just to see if it works lol. The sub moved but with only 100 watts to it, that's all it did was move a little. emoticon

Yeah, I realize that, but I just noticed they sounded a little tighter. They do look good though. I wish I could run them inverted, the motor and basket look SOOOO sick.

well the hardware store was outta 3/4" MDF, so I threw one of them in my EHQS' box and hooked up the NINe.4 for 300wrms. It was amazing. The soft top was flappin' around like a *****, same with the rear view. On Beatz 4 My Van it was stupid. I can't wait to get the other one hooked up in a new box.
