The quest for a mono signal...
Alright so right now I'm planning on buying 2 MAW 12s next weekend. I'm just going to run them off the rear channels of my NINe.4 at 2 ohms (~100w) until I can get a better amp. So I'll need a mono signal out of the rear channels. I was thinking I'd get some cheap RCAs and solder them together to mix the signal. Would this work? Or should the sub-outs on my hu already be mono? Or am I better off wiring the subs to 4 ohms and running it bridged for about 75w per sub?

Re: The quest for a mono signal...
i think you got the wrong idea. just bridge the two rear channels and wire the subs to a 4ohm load. just leave the rcas like normal. mono amps still use a left and right rca signal even if its just one channel and one sub.

Re: The quest for a mono signal...
Maybe I'm not understanding you're post, but what I'm asking is if the HEADUNIT sub pre-outs should be the same signal on the left and right. The reason I want to run a channel to each is because I would get an extra 25w to each sub. Probably not a huge difference but if I can get a little more spl I'd rather do that. It's 100 to each, with a channel to each sub, or 75 to each, with the channels bridged and the subs wired in series.

Re: The quest for a mono signal...
yeah you can do that too. the signal from the HU originally should already be mono so you can just leave the RCAs like normal.
