Re: Surround tear

Really nice paul. Please take pictures throughout the process or video tape it if you can. It would be really good for future purposes.

Will do. I gotta admit I'm a tad intimidated. Then again I have nothing to lose. The surround has to be fixed. The toughest part is going to be getting the old surround cleanly off. I think it's cake after that. We'll see. emoticon

Re: Surround tear

You're welcome Paul, just glad I could help. The hardest part is getting the surround and gunk off of the cone, but since that cone is metal it will be much easier. It is a ***** getting that stuff off of a paper cone without messing it up. Just make sure everything is centered and you should have no problem gluing it down. Also it won't bond so fast like on a paper cone so you should have plenty of time to move it slightly and make it even and centered around the cone. It will also be easier to clean up any excess glue from the metal cone as opposed to paper.

Why did they up the price to $50? I went there the night I posted and it said that the kit was $27.95 shipped. The only thing I can think of is that they sold you an even wider surround. Good luck, I know you will be able to get it done without much problem. And after you have done it once or twice, you become a refoaming expert emoticon

Re: Surround tear

Yeah the surround is $27. I also ordered the kit that included the brush, adhesive and detailed instructions. Well worth it if it works. IMO. My guess is to secure the surround to the cone first, let that set, then work on the surround to the frame. I'm thinking that's the best way to center it. I'll see what the instructions say. Thanks again man. emoticon
