Day 2 of Yanks Fans System
i got a couple questions and comments
1) tonite after my soccer game, i came out to my car to see someone had walked by my car and took their hand and wiped off my back window to see inside of my trunk to see my sub....i still have everything so its all good
2) i have absolutly no dimming which is awesome. even with the volume 2/3 of the way up, its perfect, nothing dimming.
3) the no dimming concerns me, i would expect running around 1200rms on a 100A alt, there would be some dimming. this makes me believe that maybe they wired my sub to 4 ohms instead of 1 ohm, which would be 450rms instead of 1200rms. so ima check on that tomorrow
4) driving home tonite i was jamming out to lil jon throw it up on volume 2/3 up just for kicks (i usually drive with it about half way or less) and i began to notice, not a burning smell, but a smell of plastic (we all know the smell of plastic). so i immediatly turned it down. ima double check all my gains tomrrow to amke sure everything is straight even tho the guy set the gains for me already but doesnt hurt to check. im guessing and hoping its just the sub breaking in. sub was made 7 months ago and have been sitting for that whole time with no play.
5) i go to put my passenger side window down from the drivers controls and it doesnt work. it worked fine before the install but not after. so i stop by there today after school and tell him and he checks it out and tells me what i have to do. turns out i have to go buy a new control for the windows and locks on my drivers side door cause the fuse blew and the control is faulty.
6) i had to drive my mom somewhere today and she wanted to hear the sub. so i put on late nite tip and put it at 2/3 volume and she was making fun of it at the beginning of the song where theres no bass and then when the bass kicked in, she was scared as sh1t lol
other than what ive stated above, i have no complaints and the sub sounds great and gets pretty loud so far. the sq is better than what i expected and my comps up front sound great as well

on the wiring yanks, they did that to my system too. wired it to 4 ohms instead. it suckd.

Almost no car audio store will wire your **** to 1 ohm. They believe its the devil. I had to have a pair of my subs wired up at car toys awhile back cause I didnt have the tools and wire I needed. But I had to argue with the dude for about 10 minutes before they finally did it. They even told me that no company makes 1 ohm stable amps and havent for about 2 years now...LOL

lol what a moron. ppl are just really stupid. 1 ohm makes the most of your amp, if in fact it is 1 ohm. oh well, wiring the sub is the easy part, jus diy, i atleast do that my self.. lol.. caus ei know its right. lol

im gonna be furious if they wired it to 4 ohms instead of 1...i told them specifically to wire to 1 ohm
ima stop by there tomorrow and ask them about it and to take the sub out and show me that its 1 ohm. i didnt pay them for them to not do what i ask

If someone wiped off your back window that is a clear sign that they might be planning to break in soon so I hope you have (or plan to get soon) a two-way pager alarm... it is the only way to semi-guarantee that you won't get ripped off. Wouldn't hurt to park it in the garage if you can either.

yeah glad you finally got that working. thats weird your window control broke out of no where. mine is actually ****ed up too because it was used so much and the contacts are just really worn. you should be able to get one from a junkyard.

I agree that guy "looking" into your car was probably shopping. When my brother was in college he had to drape his fraternity jacket across his rear seat so ppl would respect his car and walk away. There are too many ppl looking for a smash and grab.

ill probably start putting a blanket or seomthing over top of my box when i get out of my car. im not too worried about it at school cause people know my car and know not to mess with it. also i have my friend pull up behind me when i park at school real tight on my bumper so no one can get to my trunk.

oh and i didnt go up to the shop to check on the wiring today...ill go tomorrow
and if your about to ask me why go up to the shop to do it. i paid them $250-$300 to CORRECTLY install my stuff doing what i asked them to do...
