Happy birthday, Emlyn Williams!
This coming Monday would have been Emlyn Williams's 102nd birthday, so celebrate by watching your favorite Emlyn movie and let us know which one you picked. My favorite will always be Jamaica Inn, but I'm still getting a kick out of Three Husbands--I can't get enough of his high-kicking dance steps, for one thing! Perfect for a celebration. It's great seeing him shed some of his usual reserve--and villainy--for a change!

I watched Broken Blossoms just after midnight. It arrived in the mail a few days ago, so I haven't seen it as much as the others.
It will probably be Jamaica Inn tonight.

I'm just about to settle in with Jamaica Inn; however, since it's also Cyril Cusack's birthday (or was up till an hour ago!), I was thinking of putting on David Copperfield afterward. Too bad they don't share any scenes together.

The Citadel on January 16
The Citadel will be shown on Turner Classic Movies in the US next Wednesday, January 16, at 10:15 a.m. (It's the only recording of Emlyn speaking in a full Welsh accent that I know about.)

The Iron Duke will be showing on iLife March 17th (Monday, 4am) and 22nd (Saturday, 2PM).
You can also see the movie by buying the History at the Movies dvd collection for less than $5. I'm sure everyone can guess what one movie skips in my collection  !

Thanks for the alert! You can also buy it from ... hmm, I think I got mine from Movies Unlimited (they also had Broken Blossoms; haven't had a chance to watch either one yet), but it's on VHS and was a lot more than $5 for a whole collection! (Nostalgia Family Video has a couple too.) What else is on "History at the Movies," and where'd you get it?

The best places I know of are Ebay and Amazon.com. It seems like something that would be in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart but I haven't seen it there. The Wal-Mart bin does have a 20 family classics dvd collection that includes the Long John Silver movie that Robert Newton was in. I bought it and watched two of the movies last night.
