Evensong
In Evensong Emlyn plays George Leary, the musician boyfriend of an up-and-coming soprano. He also plays a musican boyfriend in My Song For You that same year, which makes me wonder if he knew how to play piano like his characters.
This is the most ill-tempered role I have seen him play, though I've only seen a few of his movies. It is also the only time I've seen him with a moustache, which makes him look older. His character's temper problems gave him a chance to show more emotion than usual.

Re: Evensong
Have you seen My Song for You?? I'd love to know where to find a copy of that!
Hmm, I guess he was pretty ill-tempered in this film ... although he relented before he became unredeemable. But for sheer black-hearted villainy, it's hard to beat his roles in Hatter's Castle and The Stars Look Down!
--- "It's all rather stylish and pretty and rather worrying" --Timothy Spall on his costume in Sweeney Todd
"He must have been fun." --Emlyn Williams (liner notes from "Emlyn Williams as Dylan Thomas in 'A Boy Growing Up'")

I bought it from Amazon.com (used starting at $8).
Emlyn plays a much sweeter, though even more self-absorbed character in My Song for You.
I want to ask you the same about Hatter's Castle...I'd love to know where to find a copy of that!
