My Song for You
A topic for discussion of the 1934 film My Song for You in which he plays Theodore Bruckner.
--- "It's all rather stylish and pretty and rather worrying" --Timothy Spall on his costume in Sweeney Todd
"He must have been fun." --Emlyn Williams (liner notes from "Emlyn Williams as Dylan Thomas in 'A Boy Growing Up'")

Re: My Song for You
I just got a copy of this film, so I haven't had a chance to watch it fully, but, just skipping directly to the Emlyn scenes, this reminded me a bit of Evensong. For one, he's a piano player, and for another, he plays an insensitive jerk who's jealous of his girlfriend's success. (Yet another example of him playing the cad--although for once he isn't a devious schemer, just self-centered.) He also doesn't seem to be in it much--but probably a bit more than in Evensong (He looks really handsome though!) I'll have to watch it more closely to talk intelligently about it but just thought I'd get the topic set up.
