Friday the 13th

This topic is for discussing his performance as William Blake in the 1933 film Friday the Thirteenth.

Re: Friday the 13th

One minute before the day ends a bus crashes, several people die, and we get to see the day unfold for everyone who was onboard.

Emlyn plays William Blake, a.k.a. the man of fortune. He gets to make use of his ability to portray charm and deviousness. As "the man of fortune" suggests, he wears an expensive looking suit, which fits very nicely. There are a lot of closeups, as if they are trying to make a star/heart-throb. Some might think he is his most handsome in this film. The best part is his scene alone with Belle Chrystall.

Belle Chrystall, Jessie Matthews and her real-life husband Sonnie Hale (whom you might recognize from "My Song For You"), the dog Puke, and all of the rest of the cast are extremely entertaining. It's even better on the second watch. If it weren't for the serious issues of death, coincidence and loyalty, it would be a comedy.

Wow, I wish I could see this. It sounds good. (Thanks for clearing up one thing: now I know the movie isn't about William Blake, the 18th-century poet/artist/visionary! I'd been wondering about that.)
