Re: Deadline for Talents
I would also like to add, that the dissolution of talents is not punishing anyone for taking too long. Anyone with a talent already declared is welcome to take as long as necessary. So few people were declaring them, though, that it just seems best to let those actually doing them finish and that's it. If you look over the declared talents list, a hefty portion of those people are no longer with us. Either they left the game entirely or have moved on. In my mind it's an out-dated system.
On another note, not pursuing a talent doesn't mean people aren't still doing those things. I know there are people that help with armor but are not armor smiths. There are people that help with weapon construction and spend lots of time making and developing weapons (myself included) that are not pursuing blacksmith. If people are really in it to help Eryndor and not for the smidgen of prestige that comes with being awarded with "talent", they will continue to perform the task regardless.
Perhaps the guilds will be a better way for those with these talents to use them for the greater good than to pursue "Talents".

Re: Deadline for Talents
quote: Katsu- I like the talents idea. Regarldess of Eryndor being made up of lots of units, were still Eryndor to the core. And new members are "Eryndor" before they choose a unit. So keeping some Eryndor-based traditions is not out of the question.
One of the popular reasons why we removed Talents is because of the lack of people pursuing them. However as one can note there are things that a lot of people are actively pursuing that we did keep: Ranks, Masteries and Merit. Despite the fact that Units will most likely have their own version of them we decided to keep them since its an Eryndor tradition, and something for people not in units to pursue. It is nice to have systems that all of Eryndor can relate to, but in order to have this relation the majority need to be actively trying to achieve them, and since that wasn't the case with talents one might say it never really was an Eryndor tradition to begin with.
Hope that makes the right kind of sense.
