Dear Warrior Poet,

You have requested that your identity be kept concealed as you would like to use this persona as a 'roleplay' persona on the boards, which is awesome. However, if you would like to make a nomination for a position, please use your identity as known in the Eryndor community.

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD: Nominations for Eryndor Executive Board 2009

I accept the nomination for the position of Treasurer.

I have served as a treasurer for many organizations throughout my life, such as:

High School: Student Council, Yearbook
College: Residence Hall Council

I have also served on organization funding boards (most notably, Student Activities Funding Board at Oakland University, the body that makes funding decisions for all student organizations at Oakland University).

I believe these positions have informed me on the wide array of challenges that small organizations face related to budgeting and accounting.

In Dagorhir, I have planned budgets for a litany of day events, weekend events, and have had an active hand in the financial planning for the launch of major national events (Ides of March, Badon Hill). Thus, I have practical experience with a wide array of fiscal issues relating to Dagorhir.

Although I do not reside within the geographical boundaries of Eryndor these days, I am certain I can perform the responsibilities of the treasurer in an efficient, fair, and effective manner.

If I am fortunate enough to be asked by Eryndor to serve as the treasurer, I plan on publishing (online) regular reports relating to Eryndor's financial status / allocated funds / collected funds / and sumamry reports after each Eryndor event. I believe this needed transparency will serve two ends: (1) it will demystify how events are budgeted [thus making it easier in the future for organizing groups to plan], and (2) it will clarify to the Eryndor community how the chapter is utilizing its funds to fulfill its responsibility as a Dagorhir chapter and a Michigan non-profit organization.

I accept the nomination for President, as well as the nomination for Magistrate. I've always been known as a reliable guy, a likable (that is truly how it's spelled. . .) guy, and within my unit, the guy that can keep everyone on task.
Despite my lack of yearly experience, I'm still extremely into the game. I have the fire and the drive to do good things for my realm, and all the units. As everyone knows, I'm not just gung-ho about the IG, I'm gung-ho about Dagorhir and all the units. I want to make sure everything is taken care of, everything is made fair, and no one gets mistreated.

There always needs to be that person to smooth things out and keeps everyone content and on task. I feel I could do well in that position, and if I am ever needed, I'm easy to contact. Even people I don't know well can depend on me for advice, help, and to have their voices heard at meetings.

I've probably ranted a touch, but to sum it up, I'm still heavily into this game, this lifestyle, and the people who play it. As president, I'll keep everyone's opinions in mind, and make sure that the unit council knows what needs to be done for our realm to thrive.

Although I am not the anonymous warrior poet, as many have speculated, I will throw the nomination of Simon D'Gester/Angus Khan for Vice President in the running. He's a reliable guy within my unit, also one of the few men to have an Eryndor talent, and he's not afraid to step on anyone's toes if their unit-creation is something that does not suit our story. Ex. a vampire griffin unit hell-bent on the destruction of dragon-kin within the lands of Bubar. Our very own Simon would be the first to say "Sorry, champ, that doesn't fly," and offer many historical alternatives. He's currently running things in Flat Rock (with Sazur) and promoting the game in full for new people in the area. I believe his nomination is a good one.

For the position of magistrate, I decline. I believe the other nominees would be a better choice than myself.

I would like to accept the nomination for coordinator. I show up to most events. From Ragnarok to Badon, I was left in charge of several community arrows and javelins. I do a good job at remembering what needs to be brought to events. I already have my own assistant (Dakin) to help me remember things. Also, I magically have one of the weapons checking totes in my posession. Thank you again for the nomination.

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD: Nominations for Eryndor Executive Board 2009

I would like to take a moment to address my nomination for Vice President. With a small amount of trepidation I will humbly accept the nomination for the post.

I have been part of Eryndor for close to five years now. During that time, I have demonstrated my dedication to Eryndor in many fashions, from the huge vinyl banner I designed and had manufactured for events, to providing and arraigning transportation to taking over the responsibility of such things as the Christmas donations to troops. I have quietly tried to do my small part to help Eryndor grow over the years.

I have been one of the rising voices in the ongoing discussion about the reunification of Belegarth and Eryndor.

I have been instrumental in the growth of Eryndor as demonstrated by the newly formed Downriver region, with gratitude to the noted Sazur.

I feel that I would be a good choice for the position in large part due to my dedication to the entity and spirit of Eryndor, but also due to my many years of experience with such positions in various volunteer positions I've had from Red Cross blood drives to Civil Rights to other community services groups. I have been instrumental in the planning and administration of groups, large and small.

I am well versed in the organization and operations of such groups as organized around the standard Roberts Rules of Order, the internationally recognized establishment of parliamentary authority.

Thus, as the most honorable Azora Cross has alluded to, I am the loyal opposition, ready to take a stance for what I believe in. I feel that I can do much to help improve and instigate growth well into the future, not only for Eryndor, but for the greater Dagorhir community.

One wonders though, why is it that even though the original nomination was made by someone who has been notably accepted to be a member of Eryndor, that the said person was asked to reveal his 'true' identity to do so.

Great question, Angus. The 'warrior poet' is certainly a member of Eryndor (as I and a few others are privy to that fact). But because the person wishes to retain that persona as a secret, to the Eryndor community at large there is no way to be certain that person is truly legit (why someone non-Eryndor would even be interested in fiddling with an election, I haven't the faintest). I certainly did not want the person to have to 'out' who they were, but it was even more my hope this process seems fair and transparent -- I erred on the side of caution in case the community felt queasy about a 'ghost persona' making nominations. I was probably being silly and paranoid and it was perhaps not an issue at all.

Fortunately, I'm happy that it was resolved in a most simple fashion where all goals were met (1) a 'legit' [for lack of a better word at 2:00 am] nomination for Simon/Angus and (2) The Warrior Poet remaining incognito.

My apologies to the Warrior Poet if my *attempt* at fairly managing this process left any ill feeling in his/her mouth. The Poet's recent emergence on the Eryndor boards has been most welcome and I have personally been very grateful and inspired by his/her words.

And of course, Angus, your nomination for VP would have stood even *if* the regular deadline had transpired. Clearly, there are many people in Eryndor who know you and your contributions to this chapter, and you are exactly the kind of person all of us in this chapter want to see be willing to 'toss their hat in' and offer to guide Eryndor to new heights! If the 'warrior poet' had chosen to stay silent and Cross (or whomever) hadn't stood up and made the nomination by the deadline, I would have just hunted down the poet and asked if I could nominate you on his/her behalf.
