The burning rage
He kept to the shadows, it was painful for a creature of darkness to even attempt to dwell in the light. The sun felt like raging fire against his skin whenever he had to cross the burning beams of light it emitted to reach another shadowy safe haven. His life had changed since the other followers of Raak had left. He was angry, he needed an outlet, he had found joy in the killing of vagrants for a while, but even that lost its luster.
Then he spotted something in the next alley, it appeared to be a struggle. "Perhaps a chance at a real fight," his mind pondered. He rushed through the lit street, the pain from the sun staggered him, but he kept his stride. Once in the alley he saw the image more clearly. A mugger was bludgeoning a young boy of about 13 years. Instincts kicked in he pulled the long sword from his back and rushed the man. Blood trickled out of the alley from the decapitated muggers now lifeless body. The young boy ran off as quick as he could without so much as a thank you to the beast grinning in the alley with the blood caked blade.
Something inside him began to warm, he could feel what seemed to be a slow simmer within his body. It used to feel so cold, but now it felt warm and almost cozy. He wanted more of this feeling. He began seeking out injustices, the vigilante life seemed to suit him well.
--- and I will show the world a face not made by god.
