You heard it from Tannhäuser, not one, but TWO light towers!

Good, that way Dagorhir will be more mature.

Shifting the mean level of maturity is a hope, knowing that a great deal of legal liability is removed from Dagorhir by not allowing minors is a certainty.

Oh well in that case, whew! Luckily Dagorhir decided to...uh abide by the campsite's standing policy. That sure was some good legal thought! Now we just have to be certain we tell all the seventeen year olds that at least there is less paperwork for our adult foam fighting!

I understand that it is the campsite's policy. Doesn't mean it doesn't suck for anyone under 18 who does not have parents willing to take a week off for Rag.

Muhdurin, I do not understand your frustration. Perhaps I can fill you in on this because making rag 18+ was actually going to be purposed but the new campsite defaults to that so the purposers backed off.

This is where I'd like to pass the talking feather to will scarlet or Kida. Anyway, over the coarse of the past years there have been some individuals who were under 18 who made a decesion to drink to much and they had to be rushed to the hospital. Please understand how that looks when dagorhir brings this 16 year old. The first question is always "Where are his/her parents?" Any idea how bad that makes us look and in fact puts individuals (if not all of dagorhir) in a situation where they have to answer for this underaged person???

Also, there have been cases where an underage individual was injuried. There are certain medical protocols and legal protocols that require parent permission in order to assist the underage individual. The way the LAW looks at someone who is 17 and someone who is 18 is very, very different.

I understand that it is only a small percentage of the underage dagorhir participants. However, unfortunatly 1 bad apple sinks ships.

Yes, that is a fair point but what about the fact that the majority of eryndor (let alone dagorhir)started doing this and ragnarok when they were well under 18. Bad decisions of one, or even two, should not put the rest of us at its mercy. My biggest selling point to recruits is that you do not have to be 18 to participate in the game and our largest events. If their were people wanting to make ragnarok 18+ they might want to take a second and consider how old they were at their first ragnarok.

The point is valid, but it doesn't not make it right. Just because dagorhir now has a low percentage of under 18, does not mean it always will or it always did. I will be six months away from turning 18 when ragnarok comes around, and one of my favoite events has been taken, as my chance to final fight on field at rag. (As I did not have suffiecent courage last year) That's all I've got to say.

Re: Ragnarok XXV - June 13 to 20 at Cooper's Lake

Cooper's Lake policy was taken as a selling point by many chapters.

And, since we made sure all groups knew about the 18+ policy prior to voting AND the vote was still unanimous to move (maybe there was one nay, I can't recall if there was 1), it would seem that indirectly Dagorhir supported it, or at least it wasn't a deal-breaker.

Fairion was right -- a proposal for 18+ would have been made regardless of the campsite's policy. I didn't have a great read on the crowd for that one -- it may or may not have passed.

I wish Dagorhir's arbitrary cutoff of 16+ for Dagorhir was accepted instead of the US Gov'ts arbitrary cutoff of 18+, but in the end they're both just arbitrary, and you can line up this sort of argument with the gazillion other arguments that note the silliness of using uniform age cutoffs to approximate individual maturity ("some people under 21 can handle drinking! some people over 21 CAN'T handle drinking! some people under 16 can drive safe! some can't! rinse, wash, repeat).
