Tips for Cutting Calories and Fat

Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and grain products like bread and rice.
Eat only small, single servings of foods high in fat or calories.
Eat less sugar and fewer sweets.
Drink less alcohol or no alcohol.
Choose foods whose labels say low, light or reduced to describe calories or fat.
Choose 1 percent or skim milk products and reduced fat cheeses.

Make sure fish, poultry and meat are lean. Trim skin and fat.
Broil, roast or steam foods.

Great advice!

One more thing I'd like to add to that list that helps me: Write down everything you put in your mouth and list it's calories and fat grams!

It helps to see it on paper and keeps you in check!

Re: Tips for Cutting Calories and Fat

I love the many fat free dairy products available to day.

Breakstones FF Sour Cream and Cottage Cheese are wonderful, and after one tasting you wont miss the old hi-fat stuff any more.

the FF cheeses are pretty awful if you are a cheese connoisseur like myself (travel in france, say no more! emoticon)
but the 2% milk ones in measured portions are good, and hard cheese like a real parmesan has a lot of flavor.

I have just been turned onto FF hot dogs, made by nathans or ballpark. I couldnt believe this but they are really good. I know hotdogs arent health food, but sometimes, when you have to eat with other humans, it helps if the food is familiar! emoticon
