Folly Bridge Pool, Bewdley

I have been restoring Riddings Brook with the Riddings Brook Flood Group and in the process have been taken by the grace, beauty and fragile future of a Folly bridge. I believe it was originally built as a part of Capability Browns grand garden design of Spring Grove House, commissioned by Samuel Skey. Spring Grove is now better known as The Bewdley Safari Park ( West Midland Safari Park )

In 1986-88 a new bypass cut the estate, leaving this particular part of the pool in a very quiet corner of Wribbenhall ( the part of Bewdley that is considered "the other side of the river" !! LOL ) During the building of the bypass, a neighbouring landowner badgered the council to restore the Folly and it still remains in very good condition.

Any help in actually pinning down a definitive answer on its architectural importance and origins would be very much appreciated, as I would rest easy if it could be on the list of important buildings locally, possibly nationaly.

This shows the pool overfull due to culvert that had been neglected for 30 years, once excavated and freed, the weed cleared in a few days. originally a huge trout pool, lower Riddings Brook now has 100s of trout fry that supports a family of Kingfishers. Its a treat to see them back on the pool, 1 day I may managed a shot of one on the Folly.

As keeper of the Folly Fellowship Picture Library I searched for pictures related to your subject, but the area is not covered by any of the collections. Sorry!
Nice pictures of the bridge with your query!
