Mountain Radio Challenge 28th Nov .
I thought this may interest somone.
quote: The MRC, or Mountain Radio Challenge, started around 1980.
The idea was to see what distance could be achieved, on 27MHz, using ground wave.
Anyone could talk skip interstate or overseas, but to talk long distance without skip was a challenge.
Originating from CBers in the North Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne we would find mountains to camp on for the night, and see what distances we could achieve.
With some knowledge on several mountains, and some confidence of what distances we could achieve we soon spread out accross the country, creating a chain or link of stations. We would pass a message from the first to the last station and back again, a version of Chinese whispers

Re: Mountain Radio Challenge 28th Nov .
We were going to do this a couplke of years ago, but interest was waning.
However, I still think its a great idea, and if we enlist the help of TM, SD and other groups I reckon we could pull it off, Lands End to John O Groats
We need to generate some interest, particularly atm with the prop being so poor

Re: Mountain Radio Challenge 28th Nov .
Hi
Yes, i remember that, here was kind of testing and some active days also, most best was rovaniemi (north circle) to hanko (moust south town).
now a days can do more distance because estonia have cb bands too.
Why not....but not meny cbers here, but some cbers do still a hill qsos, so maybe they will be try it . Great
How about 56 div to 26 via ground waves.

Re: Mountain Radio Challenge 28th Nov .
The nearest thing we get to a mountain is White Horse Hill.
Would give it a go if there is enough interest.
