Re: i cant get on air!!
Hey, good luck and congratulations
Dont worry there will be plenty, nay, some time to get on the air. I do my from the garage at the moment as I dont have room indoors, also gets me away from the house, so to speak.
I've put a sign above the door, "sanctuary"
Bloody cold though, need to get some heating sorted thats for sure

My shack is the car.
If I key the mic in the house I cause serious tvi and affects the computer also.
I'm looking at buying some ferrites .
Anybody have experience using these?

Re: i cant get on air!!
Steve if you go to pictures on here you will see my shack. I use a low pass filter and some clip on ferrites. These are easy to use, just clamp them on in various places.
Get them from here
http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/Passive+Components/Ferrites/MULTICOMP/LF50B/displayProduct.jsp?sku=9640487
Only a few quid each.
But definately get a low pass filter. Buy a ham one, far better get them on Ebay for 20 quid or so.
The biggest cause of tvi, I have found, is poor swr. Spend some time getting this as good as you can and that will eliminate 90% of it straight away.
Any more help, just ask
