Equipment for Echo Charlie
Hi,
Theoretically, if someone wanted to have a shot at this, what would they need if they didn't want to buy a HF set, and wanted to instead use a Cobra CB rig.
* CTE Internation Transverter: I guess these are impossible to find now?
* WW2 radio: I guess these are collectable and very expensive if they even still work?
* Building a rig: I guess this is quite hard, but are there any designs available?
* Building a transverter: I spoke to a guy who knows a fair bit about radios and he semes to think this would be quite simple. Can anyone point me in the right direction to start?

Re: Equipment for Echo Charlie
OK the answer is yes it entirely possible, but probably not economic
First off you need one of these beasties

Ok I know it says VHf to Hf, but it will do the job, I think.
Then because your radio is not compatable you'll need one of these

Its all possible to build yourself of course but you'll likely need a PHD in something to even start it.
If you want to use EC bands you'll need an HF radio really, sorry.
