Anyone out & about Sunday 6th April?

I'm hopefully popping up on a hill at some point during the day on Sunday 6th April, probably PM. This'll be the first time for years, and the gear has been dusted off and tested.

I'm not expecting much skip as '24' has yet to peak, but I'll be listening particularly for ground wave contacts.

I'll be using an unloaded 1/4 wave on the car, and probably just bare rig power - monitoring 555 most likely.

Location middle-ish of Devon, and using FB107 as the call.

If you hear me, please answer as it can get a bit lonely up there...

it was nice to speak to you keith and good that it was your homebase. there is a big hil between us from where i sat, i just cant find a track up to it. its about 5-6 miles north of where i sit. i think its a good high spot at 200+m ASL, i just think i need to refine and tune where i sit in the 4x4. it would of been no problem if i had a 9foot whip or homebase strapped up some where. anyway heres a list of SSB contacts i made, no skip though emoticon

26MW01 Mike 10m north Oxford
163MP01 Martin 20m north Cardif

only a few but i spoke to Mark in Bracknell for ages. I had a really good afternoon apart from getting lost in a blizzard on the plains and not being quiet sure of where i was. Managed to find my way home if not a bit hit n miss emoticon

heres a map of where i was

Bloody fabulous Paddy, really got that antenna sorted on the motor thenemoticon

I'm a bit jealous of you mobile peeps, up the hills, I bet the snow was good, I mean it looks good and dampens the sounds. Frankly I love the snowemoticon Went for a long walk early this morning with the dog through the snow, great stuuf.

Being up a biggish hil, flask, radio and inside the motor with the heater onemoticon Great day out, beats Blackpool fair ground anydayemoticon

Re: Anyone out & about Sunday 6th April?

Well, my first DXpedition this decade didn't come to anything. I took the family to visit the inlaws, with a plan to park in my favourite spot a mile from there. We were very late leaving, (women!) and so I had to make do with the car park.

Bleddy computers!
I was getting about S3 of continuous hash so listening for signals in the back of the box was out of the question.

However, I heard Paddy (FB118) operating on '585 between 3:20 & 3:45, and although I could only pick up about half of what you were saying due to the interference, under better circumstances you would have been R5, no problem. I did respond at one point, but as I was only running 12 watts or so, someone else got in over the top, although I couldn't hear any other stations above the QRM.

Paddy, for your information I was in postcode area EX6. (google maps will reveal all.)

I'll be better equipped next week!
