"Separation"
This might be a bonehead question and, if so, I apologise: but it's bugging me.
I keep hearing callsigns followed by "separation something or other" on 27.555.
I'm familiar with someone using the word "separation" with their call sign when outside their usual habitat to indicate a non-native location. For example, "25-FB-nnn-Separation-163-division" which indicates, to me, that it is an English callsign transmitting in Wales.
But I'm hearing CQ calls along the lines of "188-FB-001 separation Zulu" quite often and I have no idea what the "Zulu" (or other phonetic letters) element refers to.
Could anyone enlighten me please?
(Yes, I'm lying about having specifically heard 188 Division use this expression - but it'd be nice!. In truth it's usually Germany or Italy)
Thanks in advance
--- Cheers,
Steve

Re: "Separation"
Usually this indicates more than one station in the same activation. Say a castle in France, or an unusual island, or just an activation to celebrate a festival.
So Bob is using 14SPECIALO/Z and Jon is using 14SPECIAL/X (/ being seperation)
Sorry if I haven't explained it very well

Cheers Yamanx1
Thank you very much. That does make perfectly good sense and it would explain the CQ calls that I've heard.
One of life's mysteries solved, and an irritant to my 11m enjoyment removed.
Much appreciated.

Re: "Separation"
has dave says it's when a group do a collective activation ie
26FBHB5 /WM = 26 fox bravo happy birthday 05 / west midlands
26FBHB5 /H =hereford
26FBHB5 /sy =south yorkshire
or it could be /139 as the group member
